Originally designed by Jean-Marie Massaud for Poltrona Frau in 2006, the Kennedee sofa is a fantastic example of modern Italian design. Constructed from a solid beechwood frame, the sofa is fully upholstered in white Panna 51 Pelle Frau SC leather and sits on splayed steel feet in a grey gunmetal finish. The sofa has a slimline silhouette giving the impression of being compact while offering deep and generous seats. The leather back and seat cushions feature quilted detailing and are finished with a contrast stitching, showcasing Poltrona Frau’s historic craftsmanship. Renzo Frau founded Poltrona Frau in Turin in 1912. In the 30’s it was already a status symbol. From 1926 it was appointed supplier of the Italian Royal Family, the Savoia dynasty. From then on, it will furnish all the most important houses, grand hotels, the interiors for Expo Turin 1928, and the lavish transatlantic Rex, pride of the Italian Navy.
Born in Toulouse in 1966, Jean-Marie Massaud graduated in 1990 from Les Ateliers, Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle, Paris. He began to work both in Asia and in France, finally opening his own office in Paris in 1994. Since than, he has dedicated himself to industrial and furniture design, building important relationships with brands such as Authentics, Baccarat and Magis.
