Description

The Kast storage unit is a sideboard designed by Maarten Van Severen. Belgian designer Maarten Van Severen, who worked with architect Rem Koolhaas and created pieces for Vitra, Edra, Kartell, and Alessi, was one of the most acclaimed designers of his generation. A champion of strict minimalism, he designed furniture and objects that were highly sophisticated yet deceptively simple. Sadly, he passed away at the age of 48 in 2005. Particular attention was given to the colours of the sliding doors, which not only highlight the proportions of the Kast but also give it a sense of freshness and optimism.

The design of Can/One, which Van Severen worked on during the final months of his life, can be seen as the culmination of his exploration of storage design.
